This past Friday, I went to Woodstock to see my all-time favorite Dutch band perform. They were invited by several people over a number of years to do a show. They ended up playing a semi-acoustic show in London and a Rock show in Woodstock. There were about 15oo people in attendance in Woodstock and it was a sell-out! The music can be described as party rock music and the subjects include: beer, women, motorcycles, politics, partying etc.
The band categorizes itself (if you want to put them in a box!) as Farm Rock. Picture 6 guys on stage some looking like Hell’s Angles wannabees, beer in hand, playing hard and singing in a Dutch dialect. The audience consists of half naked people drinking and throwing beer, jumping up and down on their wooden shoes. Half way during the show the straw came out and shirts were flying. You had to be there to really soak it all up.
For those of you who want to see more, check out their website: www.normaal.nl
It is all in Dutch, but check it out, there are some clips of the show in Woodstock. I had a blast! Just like the good old days.
The clip is of their biggest hit called: OERENDHARD (really fast). This was their biggest hit and is from 1978.
